Cork Sinn Féin marked the 40th anniversary of the death of
Argentinean revolutionary Ernesto Che Guevara last night with a showing
of the film version of "The Motorcycle Diaries", based on
Guevara's early life. The event, which took place in An Spailpin Fanac,
was attended by up to 100 people.
Speaking afterwards, party spokesman Hnery Cremin commented: "Che
Guevara remains a revolutionary icon for people around the world. His
passion and idealism stand in sharp contrast to the cynicism that so
often marks Irish public life, and the cronyism and graft being daily
uncovered by the tribunals."
