5.9.09 - Drug Seizures Welcomed

Sinn Féin in Cork welcomes the recent drug seizures by Gardai in
Gurranabraher. Speaking after the latest seizure of €2000 worth of Heroin,
Sinn Féin Cllr. Jonathan O Brien said.

“Recent drugs seizures by Gardai in Gurranabraher are a welcome sign that
the combined effort by the Gardai, local politicians and community leaders
are paying dividend. The most recent seizures come on the back of
information supplied by members of the community who are determined that
the drug dealers do not have a free reign over our community. These
seizures should also give confidence to residents that any information
passed onto the Gardaí, either directly or through the ‘Dial to stop drug
dealing’ hotline is being acted on.

I want to reiterate the call by Supt. Con Cadogan that we can only defeat
the drug problem in our community by working together. Sinn Féin will
continue to fight against drug dealers and encourage others to join us”.
